The Exhibition of Bue Grasso in Moncalvo is the most important event about the traditional country culture of Monferrato and about the finest Piedmont’s cattle breed named “Fassone”.
Moncalvo is about three kilometers from Cascina rosa b&b, and in December (usually starting from the second week, here the institutional municipality website with the updated dates) it takes place the Bue Grasso and Bollito Misto Exhibition. The festival has very old roots, strictly connected to the rural culture of Monferrato and with the finest meat of the Fassone beef.
The festival is also the moment for appreciate the typical products: some days dedicated to food&wine, exhibitions, competitions, music, culture and history. The breeders show their heads of cattle on the background of the arcades of the ancient village of Moncalvo, in the upper square with the beautiful view on the surrounding hills of Monferrato.
The exhibition and the competition will be followed by the prize cerimony of the best bovine animals, how’s habit for many years.
Visitors of the Bue Grasso Exhibition of Moncalvo can find stands of typical food and wine products and crafts. They can also visit monuments of the village while waiting for taste the finest beef meat with a glass of good wine.

The famous Piedmont’s Bagnèt Verd
ingredients:
- parsley gr 50
- two anchovies in salt
- bread soft crumb
- vinegar
- a clove of garlic
- Finely chop the parsley combining garlic and anchovies after being thoroughly cleaned and boned.
- Pour the mixture in a bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, after having soaked in good vinegar and then squeezed; with a wooden spoon to mix the ingredients thoroughly.
- Add extra virgin olive oil abundant until the sauce is thoroughly liquid.
- Taste and adjust salt and pepper if necessary
